The customer
"Menschen bewegen", or "Moving people" in English, is the motto of Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG. Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG, or KVB for short, is one of the largest public transport companies in Germany. The areas of activity not only cover passenger transportation, but also include a wide range of other tasks at the depots, workshops, sales centres and administration. The company currently employs 3,150 employees and operates around 380 trams and 300 busses on 60 different lines. Over 800,000 people use the service of the KVB each day.
The use
When checking tickets in trains and busses and taking photographic evidence of damage, soiling and crime, field workers at Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG use the CASIO hand-held terminals IT-3000 and IT-600, offering a range of functions adapted to fulfil the specific usage requirements. In addition to reducing the workload of personnel with regard to time-consuming paper work and routine tasks, the quality of service for passengers and the cleanliness and security on the trams and busses have also been improved.
Practical experiences
Frank Krause, service and security manager at Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG, confirms: "Our employees are extremely impressed by the CASIO terminals. The compact devices contain everything they need to carry out their work. The Systemtechnik software is easy to operate and helps to ensure error-free invoices and documentation."
