The customer
Quick, safe and reliable delivery - this is the objective of Heinrich KOCH Internationale Spedition GmbH & Co. KG. Founded in 1900, the medium-sized company, which is headquartered in Osnabrück, Germany, today provides a wide range of transportation and logistics services. With over 725 employees, KOCH-International works together with approx. 45 other renowned shipping companies from across the whole of Europe under the CargoLine Logistic Networks umbrella association and contributes to delivering more than 10 million packages per year. In doing so, the company does not restrict itself to pure transportation logistics. KOCH-International can also draw on a wealth of experience in the fields of production and warehouse logistics. To ensure the company is providing the highest degree of quality, the shipping company is making targeted investments in innovative technologies that optimally support its employees in their work.
The use
The constantly rising demands of shipping customers and the sudden changes in the industry force logistics service providers to introduce new technical solutions more rapidly than ever before. In day-to-day business customer requirements must be dealt with quickly and packages must be traceable at all times. Taking this into consideration, KOCH-International has modernised its process for recording loading conditions and transport damage. Thanks to the DT-X30 hand-held terminal, all functions of mobile data recording can be processed, starting with goods receipt via intermediate storage and logging outgoing goods/loading, right through to use on the delivery routes with delivery scanning, GPS positioning and signature recording. Damage is also recorded in real-time, photographed and then immediately transferred to a central online archive. Damage documentation, which has dramatically improved, for customers, partners and insurers, as well as quicker communication have optimised the quality of service and led to a noticeable cut in expenditure.Practical experiences
"The possibilities provided by the new MDE system extend far beyond the departments that actually work with the CASIO DT-X30 hand-held terminal, for example, it is not only Distribution that benefits, but Service as well. The efficiency and quality of our services will be considerably enhanced and this should always be our focus", explains Helmut Börst, Head of National Shipping and General Manager at KOCH-International.
